IntraIt’s all about glide… and progressionoduction

At AFS, we’re committed to designing and building high-quality foils made in France, with one goal in mind: helping you progress and enjoy the ride, no matter your level. For nearly 10 years, our approach has remained the same — we innovate to deliver high-performance foils, always tailored to your style of riding.

But with so many options out there, how do you find the right front wing for you?

This 10-minute guide will help you make the right choice.

Just starting out? We've got you covered.

What you need:

  1. Smooth, progressive lift
  2. A stable and forgiving ride
  3. Rounded wing tips to reduce the risk of injury during early crashes (they’ll happen)
  4. And of course… helmet and impact vest strongly recommended!

Our beginner pick: the FLYER

Available in two sizes:

  • FLYER 1800 → for riders 70 kg and up
  • FLYER 1500 → for riders under 70 kg

Why? A thick leading edge and rounded tips make for easy takeoff and super stable flight. The FLYER is your best friend when learning to fly with confidence and control.

Intermediate level: welcome to glide

Once you’ve nailed the basics, it’s time to unlock more glide.

Why? So you can link jibes, nail your switch, or simply carry speed through your maneuvers.

That’s where the EVO range comes in.

Our recommendation for progression: the EVO range

Available in 4 sizes depending on your weight and wind conditions:

  • EVO 950 → for lighter riders in stronger wind
  • EVO 1250 / 1450 / 1650 → choose based on your weight and wind strength

Examples:

  • 70 kg rider → EVO 1450 + 5m² D-lite (10–15 knots) / EVO 950 + 4m² D-lite (>20 knots)
  • 90 kg rider → EVO 1650 + 6m² D-lite (10–15 knots) / EVO 1250 + 5m² D-lite (>15 knots)

Why? The EVO offers smooth takeoff, excellent glide, and outstanding versatility. It’s the kind of foil you’ll keep in your quiver for years — a true Swiss army knife for progressing without needing to upgrade every six months.

Specialized ranges for your riding style

As you progress, you can refine your gear depending on what you love to ride.

For surf and swell

  • The ENDURO range → perfect for smooth carving, efficient pumping, and bump tracking. Sizes from 700 to 1600 to suit your weight and riding goals.
  • The SILK range → for more committed, fluid, and precise surf-style riding.

For ultra-early takeoff

  • ULTRA → with a 14 aspect ratio for crazy early lift and long glides. Perfect for downwind foiling.
  • The latest addition: ENDURO 1600 GLT, ideal for dockstart or light wind wing sessions.

Why the “bumps” on some front wings?

You’ve probably seen those little bumps on certain front wings — they’re not just for looks.

They’re designed to improve foil behavior in turbulent water.

An innovation from our designer Laurent Borgna, these bumps break up the water flow, offering more forgiving feedback in rough conditions.

They prevent sudden stall, even if a wingtip breaches the surface, and help you maintain control in messy sections or whitewater.

The result? A foil that’s more forgiving, predictable, and confidence-boosting — even when things get chaotic.

For speed and freestyle lovers

If you’re all about performance, speed, tricks, and aggressive carving, the PURE range is for you.

For top-end speed & precision

  • PURE 560 → made for going fast… really fast (your quads have been warned)
  • PURE 600 / 700 → ideal for freestyle (used by Axel Gérard, 2024 Vice World Champion)
  • PURE 900 → more lift for lighter wind or heavier riders.

The PURE 700 and 900 are also great for racing in light wind — perfect for local competitions without blowing up your budget.

For high-aspect ratio lovers: EVO HA & PURE HA

  • Super early takeoff
  • Insane upwind performance and control through transitions
  • Extreme glide and angle

Perfect for SUP downwind or highly technical riding.

These are your alien foils — for going higher, faster, further.
